Aidan's birthday festivities started off with his very first birthday party at school. I sent in a birthday snack for him and his friends to enjoy- Puffs, apple juice, and dried fruit. It was the cutest thing to see all of them sitting in little chairs enjoying Aidan's birthday snack. All of his friends wore party hats. The birthday boy didn't want to wear his hat, so instead he shook two of them in the air.

We then continued the birthday fun with dinner at Chick-Fil-A and presents from mommy and daddy, Nana and Papa Lou, Uncle Nuch and Angela, and Meme and Granddaddy. Aidan chowed down on nuggets and fries, but did not want any ice cream . All he wanted to do was put his finger in it. He would throw his head back every time we tried to feed it to him. He cracks me up! When we got home we sang to him and gave him his first cupcake. He wanted nothing to do with his cupcake either...are we sure he's my child?!? Aidan opened presents and headed to bed the latest he ever has at 10:00...such a party animal!
There was one final celebration for his special day. We had Aidan's birthday party with family and friends yesterday. We did a monkey theme since Mike and I have always called him our little monkey. We have always collected monkey things for Aidan and he has TONS of monkey things that other people have given him over the past year, so this was the perfect theme for his 1st birthday party. We had it at the Stonebridge Clubhouse in my parent's neighborhood. Anthony and I had birthday parties there growing up, so this was an extra special place.
My dream is to open a store one day and be a party planner, so planning Aidan's first party was a blast! I made monkey cookies for party favors, monkey-themed foods: monkey bread, monkey mix with dried bananas, coconut, and fruit, and peanut butter and banana sandwiches. What monkey party would be complete without banana splits with Chunky Monkey ice cream? After everyone ate lunch we watched a slideshow that Mike and I made for Aidan with pictures from his first year of life. We wanted to start this tradition of making a yearly slideshow for our children for them to have as a keepsake when they grow up. We then sang to the birthday boy and you guessed it...Aidan did not want to eat his cake. He touched the icing with his fingers, but that was the extent of it. We had a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends. Thank you Lord for an amazing year with an amazing kid. We know that "every good and perfect gift is from you"!
