Emerald Isle Here We Come!

Beach shorts on and ready to go!

We packed up and headed to Emerald Isle for the 4th of July. This was Aidan's 2nd beach trip. Right before we left we noticed that his congestion seemed worse and his eyes were full of green junk. Yikes! Mike took him to the doctor (while I had a protected teacher workday) only to find out that he had a double ear infection and pink eye!!! You would NEVER have know that our sweet, smiley baby boy was so sick! The doctor gave us an antibiotic and we were on our way. Our car looked like the Beverly Hill Billies...it was a miracle that everything fit!

Can we fit anything else in here?

Aidan swam in the pool for the first time. He LOVED it! His feet stuck out the back of his floatie like a little turtle. Once he learned how to splash there was no stopping our little fish.

Playing with Granddaddy at the pool.

We decided to give it a try and take Aidan down to the beach for the day (well a couple of hours). By the time we got him ready, packed up his things, got on our sunscreen, and safely walked his jogging stroller down the beach access ramp 2 hours had gone by!!! Phew! What a chore! I have a new respect for the countless beach toys, chairs, towels, and snacks my parents dragged down to the beach all those summers at Myrtle!

We had just put Aidan in his SPF 50 tent when off in the distance we heard thunder! You've gotta be kidding me...seriously?!? After all that work a storm quickly approached and we had to gather all of our belongings, jump in the golf cart, and head back to the beach house. Needless to say we did not head back down to the beach once the storm had passed. Gone are the days of packing a cooler and heading to the beach to bask in the sunshine and get a tan for hours at a time! Well, at least until Aidan can entertain himself by building sand castles!

Ok...round 2! We trekked back down to the beach only to find that the wind was whipping sand around! Aidan's tent would not stay put and was flying away! We decided it probably was not the greatest day for our little crab to be sitting in the sand, so we played at the swimming pool instead.

Hang on to the tent daddy!

We took him down one final day just to put his feet in the sand and ocean for the first time. As you can see in the picture below Aidan was not a fan of the cold ocean water or sinking sand in his toes and cried loudly until Mike picked him up.

My two boys by the ocean!
